The Judith Ackland and Mary Stella Edwards Collection
The Burton is the home of the Ackland and Edwards Collection. Artists Judith Ackland and Mary Stella Edwards have become synonymous with North Devon. Their cabin, perched above the sea, has been untouched for over 40 years and preserves the secrets of their beautiful artwork.
In 2012, the Burton at Bideford was entrusted by the Ackland and Edwards Trust with a treasure trove of correspondence, sketchbooks, diaries and photographs relating to the lives and inspirations of the two painters.
