From photo walks to cyanotypes, charcoal-making to a camera obscura, there are lots of fun activities happening at The Burton – and beyond – this half term.
Visible Bideford Photo Trail Follow Anita Corbin’s portraits of Bideford locals through the town, collect the hidden letters to spell out a phrase and enter our prize draw. Pick up a free map from the gallery. All week – FREE
Tuesday 28 May: Crafty Kids Make your own charcoal in a fire outside in Victoria Park (weather permitting). Suitable from pre-schoolers up to age 11. Drop in between 10am-3pm. FREE – no need to book
Wednesday 29 May: Camera Obscura at Northam Burrows Don’t know what a camera obscura is? Venture out to the visitors centre near the Burrows to watch it in action – see the world as you’ve never seen it before! 11am-4pm FREE – no need to book
Wednesday 29 May: Fun Action Toy Photography Come and create amazing action photos with your toys at Northam Burrows! Photograph them scaling miniature mountains, abseiling down canyons or escaping from dinosaurs. Suitable for all ages. Bring your own toys and a camera/smartphone. 1-4pm £10. Friday 31 May: Cyanotypes in the Park Create cyanotypes in the park with Foto Now. Cyanotypes are the first photographic process, allowing objects to be recorded onto paper or fabric using the light of the sun. Join us between 2-3pm to create a big Community Cyanotype! Saturday 1 June: Mau Mau Book Signing Join street artist Mau Mau in the gallery where he will be signing copies of his latest book, Talking Out Of My Art. Drop in between 3-4pm. FREE – no need to book
