A wide variety of organisations in north Devon have been invited help shape the future of the art gallery and museum
November 15, 2017
On November 15, The Burton at Bideford Trustees and Executive Director Chris Kirby will host The Burton Cultural Experience, a public consultation and ideas forum.
The day is an important step in the creation of a bold new future for the cultural hub, and aims to gather ideas which will inform the design and objectives of the Burton Cultural Experience, the major cultural development partnership between the Burton at Bideford and Devon-based charity Libraries Unlimited.
The Burton and Libraries Unlimited have been working together to consider options for the relocation of Bideford Library. The move would look to incorporate the library into a new cultural space, enhancing the facilities on offer, providing better access and allowing the library to embed culture within its core offering as both the charity and the Burton at Bideford become Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations.
The team aim to get the views of a wide spectrum of over 50 invited representatives from local and regional community groups, cultural and learning organisations, social welfare agencies and government offices.
Executive Director Chris Kirby says, ‘This event is a fantastic opportunity for North Devon to help shape the vision for a new enhanced cultural offering located in Bideford. We want The Burton to reflect the needs and aspirations of local communities and also act as a significant centre of learning and creative practice that will draw audiences from much farther afield.’
The event will take place at the Burton at Bideford from 2pm – 5pm, Wednesday November 15.
Attendees will be using #BurtonCulture on the day. Connect to our Facebook and Twitter pages to find out more.
