Women First Art Group Christmas cards are now on sale at the Burton shop.
‘Women First Art Club’, run in collaboration with the Women First project. It’s a partnership between Encompass Southwest, NDADA and Mind who support women who are rough sleeping, sofa surfing, or living in temporary or insecure accommodation. The monthly drop-in art group gives an opportunity to engage in art projects and explore their creative side. The group’s annual Christmas Card is now on sale in the Burton Shop with all profits going back to the group. The project is generously funded by the Brunswick Wharf Regeneration.
“The sessions that have been run by Burton@Bideford and supported by Red Earth have been fantastic for our clients who are often marginalised by the community for the trauma that have or are currently living. To be included in such high-quality workshops and given resources to take away with them at the end of each session has really helped them feel empowered and included”. – Emma IDVA Women first project
The inspiration for this year’s design is to ‘come on in from the cold’ and share a cuppa, something that resonates with many of the women supported by Women First Project. The Burton welcomes everyone to the gallery as a warm, safe place to come on in from the cold. The cards will be on sale in the Burton shop from Saturday 29th October and all profits will go back to the Women’s First Art Group, enabling them to do more creative activities for the women they support.
A huge thank you to Brunswick Wharf Regeneration for funding the project and their continued support! Plus, a big thank you to our wonderful Liz for leading the monthly group and continuously bringing out everyone’s inner artist.
